The shutdown of 2 nuclear reactors in France, at Fessenheim : a success for the Chinese industry ?

Saturday February 22, 2020 France and Europe suffered a terrible defeat in Science and Industry : the first of the two reactors at the Fessenheim nuclear power plant was disconnected. As a result of fifty years of unhealthy untruths propagated by the catastrophic and the under-growing ecologists, President François Hollande and President Emmanuel Macron gave in and decided on the final closure.

However, the electricity generated by nuclear reactors does not produce CO2 and does not contribute to Global warming. Nuclear reactors produce electricity without buying coal, oil, gas or palm oil for bio-refineries, which avoids widening France's deficit. Nuclear reactors produce electricity completely controlled by Humans, unlike solar and wind, which only produce 21% of the time. Nuclear reactors produce electricity thanks to the work of hundreds of thousands of French researchers, engineers and workers. Hundreds of millions of euros have been invested in the Fessenheim power plant to improve the control of nuclear fission and the security of all installations.

Newspapers and magazines for the wide audience such as Le Figaro or Les Echos, Marianne or Challenges, all explain the no-need to close this nuclear power plant, the "politician" nature of this decision, and that logically this will lead to a bigger activity in gas and even coal power plants which produce greenhouse gases from... imported raw materials.

After a study and a statement by the Nuclear Safety Authority, the Fessenheim power plant could have produced electricity for 10 years again. And certainly even more : in early December 2019, the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission issued an operating license for up to 80 years of age for the 2 reactors at the Turkey Point power plant in South Florida. And this in a context where the majority of the American nuclear fleet has obtained a production license up to 60 years ! Only technical and industrial considerations should fix the shutdown of a nuclear reactor. The decision to close the Fessemheim power plant reveals the big moral weakness and the lack of strategic vision of Presidents Hollande and Macron.

Electricity from the wind and sun energies has a low efficiency and is not 100% controllable, because it depends on Nature. In addition, the production of solar panels and wind turbines, as well as cables, inverters or turbines, takes place in factories outside France ! Chinese manufacturers have already acheived complete dominance in the solar panel sector by producing with low cost and ignoring environmental constraints. Already, a giant Chinese company like Goldwind has acquired immense market shares in the wind turbine sector, putting even pioneering German and Danish companies in a very bad position. And while the EPR nuclear reactor under construction in France has suffered faults, delays, and additional costs for years, consequences of a short-term management, the only 2 EPR nuclear reactors that produce electricity in the world are in China, at Taishan !

Under pressure from the ecologists for the under-growing, goat breeders, professionals from against-all associations and thinkers propagating end-of-the-world scenarios, depressed urban inhabitants fantasizing about "back to the countryside", what is the future of science and industry in France ? Is the future of French engineers and workers is to make bikes, scooters, planters connected to Internet, going to pick up organic salads, or even expatriate to USA or China ?

Ecologists for the under-growing fully deserve their name, by blocking scientific conquests and major projects in France. The catastrophist ecologists cause the genuine catastrophe of desindustrialisation and of France's deficit : 92.8 billion euros in deficit of the French state in 2019, against 67.7 billion euros in 2017 ; and a deficit in trade with foreign countries in 2019 of 58.9 billion euros, including 45 billion precisely for the energy bill !
