And the entire text sent to the NGO, Re:wild, and to Leonardo DiCaprio.
1) The public support from dozens of Scientists Leaders of the Democratic Republic of Congo !
2) And the presentation text of the Congo Archipelago Project sent to the american biodiversity conservation NGO, Re:wild, and to the American actor Leonardo DiCaprio. This includes the explanation of the suggestion to contact the Green Sports Alliance in order to involve the major American sports federations in the protection of the Congo Basin rainforests and peatlands (American Football, Baseball, Basketball, Golf, Ice Hockey, etc.). From page 323 to page 343.
In the spring of 2021, I contacted many scientists from the Democratic Republic of Congo to explain to them the entire Strategic aim of the Congo Archipelago Project. In direct connection with the defense of tropical rainforests and peatlands in the Congo Basin, I logically contacted the scientists and environmentalists who are on the front line in the study and conservation of forests and peatlands as well as of its biodiversity : scientists from several Universities in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
After two months of presentation, in May and June 2021, with numerous emails and numerous videoconferences, to explain the Congo Archipelago Project, dozens of leading scientists from the Democratic Republic of Congo from 5 Universities gave their public support through a very powerfull Statement !
1) Scientists from the Faculty Agronomic Institute of Yangambi.
More than 2,000 kilometers from Kinshasa, the "Cité Scientifique de Yangambi", once the largest research station on tropical flora in the world, was founded by Belgian scientists in 1933. In Yangambi, between the Congo River and the major hundred-year-old trees of the second tropical forest in the world, you travel among the curious remains of colonial buildings, in brick and wood, with a "chandelier extinguished" mood, but well and truly still standing. And we discover treasures of knowledge and biodiversity, from the largest herbarium in Central Africa, to the immense research library, including the xylotheque or the collection of tropical woods.
The Yangambi Scientific Center has a biosphere reserve recognized by Unesco of more than 235,000 hectares, and its herbarium has the largest collection of dried plants in Africa, with 150,000 specimens.
Below are the videos to see the "green diamond" that is Yangambi:

Centered on Lake Kivu, one of the Great Lakes of Africa with 2,700 km2, but also intervening in Lake Tanganyika, the second largest lake in Africa and second in the world by depth after the russian Lake Baikal, these scientists are specialized in research and environmental management in the field of aquatic sciences. They are working to reduce the pollution generated by colonial monocultures and intensive fish farming in Lakes Kivu and Tanganyika.
