During this United Nations Conference on the edge of the Amazon rainforest, which is trying to control the "#Anthropocene Era", I suggest 5 proposals on mitigation, adaptation, and valorization.
Do we truly understand the historical role and deep significance of the Climate Conferences?
At these global meetings, is humanity attempting to control the original and natural course of sunlight on the planet, atmospheric winds, ocean currents, and the melting of ice?
At these diplomatic summits, is humanity attempting to mitigate the effects or to adapt to a gigantic natural catastrophe that would have struck the entire planet, such as a meteorite impact causing the extinction of many plant and animal species?
Or is Mankind trying to agree on scenarios, through a concert of efforts according to the power of Nations, to preserve the "human climate niche" that its GreenHouse Gas emissions deteriorate each year? This amounts to a selfish attempt to work to save the human species from heat, droughts, uncontrollable fires, hurricanes and tornadoes, and coastal flooding, which humanity itself has activated through its climate change.
In my book "Towards a Controlled and Benevolent Anthropocene", 282 pages, May 2019, available worldwide on Amazon in French, I address in chapters A1, "Man as the Maker of a New Planetary Era: The Anthropocene", and A5, "Dialectic of Nature, "Day of Control" and Controlled Anthropocene", the delay in realizing that Humanity has become THE destabilizing factor of the Planet. I also explain why the COP, this International of "shameful humanity," does not clearly affirm the transition to the Anthropocene Era, and, above all, why the COPs and ecological conferences miss the true strategic vision, which is to frankly control the human invasion of the planet, with the aim of achieving a balance between the extraction and restoration of natural resources.
Leader of the "Global South", Brazilian President Lula, at the head of the leading power in Latin America with 218 million inhabitants over 8.516 million km², inaugurated with a strong and optimistic speech: "COP30 will be the COP of truth" in an era of "#COP30 fake news and misrepresentation" and "rejection of scientific evidence".
While Europeans are busy committing hundreds of billions of dollars to rearmament in the face of the Russian threat, while the United States has withdrawn from the Paris Agreement for the second time, and China is mobilizing huge resources in armaments, countries of the "Global South" could make deep technological advances by no longer investing in the infrastructure of the old fossil fuel economy.
Viewing COPs as constraints is a short-sighted approach. COPs are a wake-up call to move away from coal, oil, and gas, which, in any case, have a deadline!
Nowhere is it written that Western countries will be the leaders in controlling the Anthropocene Era!
